Voter turnout fairly low so far at SPC polls– PAFFREL
The voter turnout for the Southern Provincial Council election has been fairly low so far, PAFFREL Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi told Daily Mirror online. Voter turnout in the Hambanthota district had been between 15 and 20 percent, while in the Galle and Matara districts turnout had registered at between 10 and 15 percent.
Rohana Hettiarachchi further said that so far no serious incidents of election law violations had been reported to PAFFREL, but said that 10 complaints of minor incidents had been brought to notice. (RR)
Between 55-60% total voter turnout recorded at SPC polls
The election monitoring body PAFFREL has recorded between 55-60% total voter turnout at the Southern Provincial Council (SPC) polls which ended at 4pm this evening. Hambantota recorded 60 % voter turnout, Galle 52% and Matara 58% The Counting of postal votes will begin at 6pm

Of course the turnout will be less, because most of the ballot papers are already inside the boxes.

why should one bother? having known the fact that your vote is gonna be in vein. While, the literate plus illiterate, majority die for one king, the rest has no option than watching on. being literate now a days is increasingly becoming senseless.Is it not?

Don't worry it will go up 80 to 95 % between 4.00 and 5.00 pm which will increased the majority votes predicted by UPFA Govt; up to 80 % votes as planned.

Sorry to say .This will be the first defeat of the government. Southerners are not that stupids. They are inteligent and brave!. Gov bearly get 55% votes. And only 30 seats NOT 40 seatsas predicted by Mr.Dallas. Desilva from Ambalangoda.
