YES there is a connection horoscope means the "ASTROLOGY" is a very old technique (More than 2600 years old) and its still continuing that's means there is some truth in it. There is a possibility that according to your birth time & "universal power" is combined to make who you are from what you have done in past life's.
BUT the most important thing is that you can "CHANGE" these things ANY TIME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you wish to CHANGE!!! Sometimes ONLY "ANANTHARYA PAPA KARMA" is Unavoidable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but one thing i have noticed that Karma acts randomly without any certian pattern actually it is a very deep subject but very interesting too

BRO, One of the major different between one of the "Shud Saathru waru" and Buddhism is that we can eliminate things by doing good things When some astrologer say some one have a bad time & say to do Alms-giving & Bodhi pooja Why??? because we can eliminate SOME (not all) by doing good things This is a MAJOR LAW
in Buddhism!! 
ye this is good. It is better to understand all of these niyama and bez most of them depend on kamma and blame for the karama.
Karama is only a one incident of our life..
there were some cassettes from soma thera about this. but it was recorded from live dhamma deshana and not clear. i was searching the web that but couldnt find.
it was really good he has mentioned all the example.
if we really found the meaning of this everything there is nothing worry and there is nothing to sad in our life. but to go to that plaz its really hard as i think. we need lot of understanding about dhamma.
