difference between sri(ශ්‍රි) and dash number plates

Hi machanla, i need to know the difference between sri(ශ්‍රි) and dash number plates in Sri Lanka. Is that possible to change sri(ශ්‍රි) number to Dash(-) number..??

ex 15 ශ්‍රි XXXX to 15 - XXXX

As I know it is not possible machan. The SRI gave for vehicles very long time before and stopped because of the resistance from tamils in that time. As I heard this is a one reason to start the sinhala tamil kolahalya

You cannot use dashes to replace the Sri letter. You can continue to use the "Sri" number plate though.
