No way can a mere four discs cover every facet of the blues king's amazing recording career, but MCA makes a valiant stab at it. The first two discs, as expected, are immaculate: opening with his Bullet Records debut ("Miss Martha King"), the box continues with a handful of pivotal RPM/Kent masters before digging into his 1960s ABC-Paramount material ("I'm Gonna Sit in 'til You Give In" and "My Baby's Comin' Home" are little-recalled gems). The hits -- "The Thrill Is Gone," "Why I Sing the Blues," "To Know You Is to Love You" -- are all here, and if much of the fourth disc is pretty disposable, it only mirrors King's own winding down in the studio.
This 4-CD box set contains 7 previously unreleased tracks and 12 rarities. KING OF THE BLUES begins with B.B.'s first-ever recording, 1949's "Miss Martha King," and culminates 40 years later with 1991's "Since I Met You Baby," a duet with Gary Moore
Disc 1 features King's earliest Memphis work, where he began his career as a disc jockey, then progresses to a selection of music he recorded for the Bihari brothers (Kent, Modern and RPM labels), and concludes with recordings made for ABC Records. On this disc you can hear King's guitar playing gradually evolve, moving from his roots in Charlie Christian and T-Bone Walker, into the sweet, sensual, concise melodic style which became his trademark.
Disc 2 chronicles King's rise to blues stardom, while Disc 3 shows him crossing over to reach the rock and pop audience. "The Thrill Is Gone" (his breakthrough single) set the standard for King's collaborations with rock and jazz royalty that make up much of Discs 3 and 4. No matter what the setting was, no matter who the collaborators were, B.B. King has always maintained his sound, his style and his focus.

Among Bach?s collections of keyboard works, the French Suites may be the most easily accessible to those unfamiliar with this style of music. They were the first of Bach?s sets of works that I really understood, and I listen to them with great pleasure over and over in a variety of interpretations, both on harpsichord and piano. Less technically demanding than other such works, like the Partitas, the French Suites nevertheless contain some of Bach?s most attractive music for keyboard.
This disc features eminent Bach interpreter Andras Schiff playing all six French suites live, and also playing the French Overture (technically a partita) and the Italian Concerto. Recorded in the intimate Protestant Church of Liepzig, on a Steinway grand piano. The piano sounds silky and reverberant, and the camera angles are generally tight, with close-ups on Schiff?s hands and face as he plays. Interestingly, all of the cameras are on the ?stage?, and there are no shots from the point of view of the audience. This church holds only a couple hundred people, and this approach to filming the concert adds to the intimate nature of the work.
Schiff?s performances are, as expected, profound, masterful, and not flashy at all. While he ornaments the works creatively, he doesn?t exaggerate. He is sometimes serious, sometimes playful, yet it?s clear just how much he understands and appreciates this music. (In the accompanying interview, he says he starts each day playing Bach for an hour.) Interestingly, there is no applause after each of the suites, but only after the end of the series of the French Suites, then again after the French Overture, and at the end of the concert. It is interesting to watch Schiff perform all six of the French Suites without the disturbance of applause; this reinforces the fact that they are a series of related works, as opposed to six separate works.
The bonus is a half-hour interview with Schiff sitting in the church leisurely discussing Bach?s life, and the French Suites in particular. It?s certainly an interesting interview to listen to, if you don?t know much about Bach or these works, and Schiff shows his knowledge of Bach?s works and his love for this music.
This is a wonderful performance of the French Suites, well filmed, with excellent sound, in a small, attractive setting. Any lover of these works simply must get this disc to be able to see and hear Andras Schiff, one of today?s finest Bach interpreters on the piano, play these works that he seems to love so well.

Bay City Rollers were a Scottish pop band who were most popular in the 1970s. The British Hit Singles & Albums noted that they were "tartan teen sensations from Edinburgh", and were "the first of many acts heralded as the 'Biggest Group since The Beatles' and one of the most screamed-at teeny-bopper acts of the 1970s".[1] For a relatively brief but fervent period (nicknamed "Rollermania"), they were worldwide teen idols. This release includes all five of Be Bop Deluxe's studio albums, with additional bonus tracks, plus an additional disc of previously unreleased home demos, rough studio mixes and live recordings. The recordings have all been freshly remastered and the project over-seen by Bill Nelson. All bonus tracks added to the 1990 CD releases have been remastered and added to this release too, except for the bonus live tracks on the 'Axe Victim' release. This remaster is an improvement upon the 1990 releases, and has thankfully avoided being 'brick-walled'. I would suggest this is the last word on digital 16-bit releases of these studio albums.
Well, at long last! Its finally been released - I thought this was going to be one of those releases that was forever going to be pushed further and further back until it disappeared altogether.
The good news is that this has definately been worth waiting for (although curiously, at the time I am writing this review, Amazon for some reason have never had this in stock and is only available on their site via Amazon sellers). In this set we have all the Be Bop Deluxe studio albums gathered together, each having its own bonus tracks added at the end of each album. Not only that but there is a fifth disc which comprises of (worthwhile) previously unreleased material. The live material on this disc is of exceptional quality and is worth the price of admission alone - not to be missed. To round off the package, there is an informative booklet with some notes from Bill Nelson (although he forgets to tell us where the unreleased live material mentioned was actually recorded. Perhaps its only me that find this sort of detail interesting!). And as for the sound quality - these are all 2011 remasters from Abbey Road and do the music justice. Clear, not too loud and reveal the subtleties and detail of the music very well.
Overall then an exceptional value for money package - even if you have all the albums previously in whatever format, this rounds everything up very nicely with a decent smattering of bonus/unreleased material which will please the die-hard BBD fan and also serve as an excellent package for newcomers alike.

Beatlejam are a sort of spin off from the successful US jam band Blue Floyd only this time its Beatles songs rather than the Pink Floyd, given the unique jam spin.
