512 mean the space incide it

chipset speed is how faster that VGA can performe

for a example, my 512, 5100GT cant play cod4, crysis, assecinsecrees, carbon, FFW

but 256MB, 8600GT can play all aboue

if u thinking about gaming, u have to go for a faster chipset
