General Sarath Fonseka at Mahiyangana
(Lanka-e-News 18.Jan.2010 2.00PM) Addressing an election rally held in Mahiyangana, on Sunday January 17th, General Sarath Fonseka said that the people should not vote for him just to show gratitude for taking unspeakable risks in carrying out the war activities and suffering untold hardship and suffering, more that thrice at the risk of my own life, but as a service to your country so that we all can go forward as one nation towards prosperity respecting law and order and without corruption. According to reports reaching Lankaenews, Mahiyangana has never seen crowds like these who attended this meeting. The meeting was organized by UNP Assistant Secretary and Badulla district MP Lakshman Seneviratne.
President Rajapaksa and his brother Gotabhaya are asking people to vote for them to show gratitude for having won the war. But you don’t have to vote for me to show gratitude. But you want me to bear your burden of responsibility to save this country from chaos. I accept this challenge.
He also said that the time has come for all the people to rally around one cause and that cause is discipline, respect for law and order and righteousness. It is the duty of every citizen to leave this land a better place for their children and he will make sure that he will rally all the people around this central cause. A united country will be able to solve her problems whether they are political, social or economical.
