Because for OT calculation it considers only the Basic. Lets say, 25,000/- Basic + 10,000/- Allowance. Then the OT rate is 187.50 per Hr. (25,000 /180 * 1.5) . Lets say he worked 12 hrs a day for 20 days. There are two methods of calculating OT. Total work hour method and Per day OT method. I would suggest to go with Per Day OT. Then the out of 12 hrs he worked 3.5 hrs will be considered as OT (8 work hrs + 0.5 hrs meal time). 3.5 x 20 will be 70 Hrs. Total OT cost is 13,125/-. Drivers total Salary will be 25,000 + 10,000 + 13,125 = 48,125/-Remember to pay EPF and ETF for him. That would save you lot of troubles later.</blockquote>
