My friends,
Yesterday night at around 9PM I was on my way to the Queen Of Angels' Church Rawathawatta (Katubedda Church). There have been many police units the last few months, I was only caught once but there was no problem.
However yesterday night the police unit in-front of the Queen Of Angels' Church (Near Tyronne Fernando Stadium) stopped me. They told me that my registration pending "SINGER SAFARI 4S" moped could not be ridden without a license. I showed them my Learners Permit and they told that I cannot ride my bike with a learners permit without a learner driver insurance.
However as I know, the Learner Driver insurance is only issued for ONE DAY and when I told it to this Police officer he told that I can get it for 3 month period...
I have a Ceylinco VIP On-the-spot FULL Insurance. And they confirmed that I cannot get a "Learner driver" for 3 months.
I have been riding my Moped for the last 2 years and have ridden it over 18,000KM. I also told these Police officers that I am doing volunteer service to the Queen Of Angels' Church because they wanted me to "treat them". They let me off saying that "Because you work for church". But they were drunk, I had a hard time speaking to them because of the smell. Also they had a vest, I couldn't see their numbers.
I have :
Pending Receipt of Registration
VIP on-the-spot FULL Insurance
Learners Permit
L boards displayed
Helmet
But yet these people told that I cannot ride my bike on the road with the learners permit. Moratuwa police must be crazy. What is this country... taking dirt in-front of the Church, in-front of mother mary's statue. What is the police doing!!!
This is a disrespect for the whole country.
Please tell to your friends, they cannot take dirt from people and inconvenience people. What is this law... this is worse than the LTTE

ONE MORE THING : They told that they will take the bike... and that if they do, I will not have it in the same condition...
I went and told the Parish Priest of our church... we went meet these Police unit... they quickly went of when they saw us coming.
