Apr 15, Negombo: A tense situation erupted when some intoxicated police officers at a road block on the Colombo-Negombo main highway badly beat up a 12-year-old child and his parents who tried to protect their son from police attack.
Three people of Liyanagemulla area in Seeduwa were admitted to Negombo hospital due to the attack carried out by the drunken police officers.
A group of villagers carried out a counter-attack on the police officers resulting in injuries to one police officer and creating a tense situation in the area.
The injured police officer was also admitted to the Negombo hospital.
