The driver of slain Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra has told CID that he witnessed a Police constable bodyguard of MP Duminda Silva opening fire at Mr Premachandra.
The driver Saman Shantha Perera in a statement to the CID has identified the driver who reportedly shot Mr Premachandra. The PC is currently in custody and due to be produced before an identification parade on October 18.
The driver said that MP Silva had first slapped Mr. Premachandra and fired at him before the bodyguard opened fire.
The bodyguard had used a T56 weapon to fire at Mr. Premachandra.
The CID report on their investigations was today submitted to the Colombo Additional Magistrate Prasanna Alwis.
