you have to encode the Video and Audio at lower bitrates so that each movie comes to around 1GB in size and then write to the disk

Dont know what applications are available for windows for this but for linux, there's a nice FOSS GUI application named Devede that can do this quite easily. Its a Video DVD authoring app.
