I'm posting his "effects" since I feel they are important.
Jack was known to carry a number of items about his person at all times, including a tricorne hat, a single-shot pistol, a sword, a compass and a coat, commonly referred to as his "effects". Jack was highly possessive of these items, and became visibly agitated whenever they were taken from him or tampered with. Even while escaping a Port Royal Prison, Jack would not leave without first gathering his effects, much to the consternation of Will Turner.
Jack's tricorne hat was one of the pirate's most beloved possessions, possibly because it symbolized his status as a Captain. When asking for his effects to be handed over to him during his escape attempt in Port Royal, Jack specifically requested his hat. After Jack was marked with the Black Spot, his hat was thrown into the sea by Jack the monkey. The crew realized what a loss this must be for Jack, though he himself was too preoccupied with the Black Spot to pay much attention. The hat is later recovered and summarily eaten by the Kraken along with the ship it was aboard at the time. Jack attempted to replace the hat several times during a bar brawl in Tortuga, though ultimately regained it when the Kraken spat it out during their confrontation prior to the fall of the Black Pearl. Jack put his hat on prior to being eaten by the Kraken.
Jack's pistol remained with him for many years, after it was loaded with a single shot and carried with him to the desert island he was marooned on by Barbossa. Jack escaped, and for the next ten years carried the pistol with him, intent on killing Barbossa with the single bullet he had been left. Thus, Jack could not bring himself to fire his pistol on anyone else; although he drew his pistol on Will Turner in order to end a duel between them, he did not shoot the boy, and was thus captured by the Royal Navy. Jack ultimately got his revenge on Barbossa, shooting him in the heart moments after Will reversed the curse that protected Barbossa. Jack was then free to load his pistol to capacity, and continued to use it years after.
It was known that Jack trained himself to shoot by aiming at empty rum bottles tossed from his ship's deck rail.

"Excuse me, darling."
With these words, Jack slowly made his way down the dock, until his face was just inches away from the woman whom he had just spoken too. Slowly he extended one arm, finger pointed at the small ship docked just offshore.
"I need that boat, ship ... thing ... urgently."
Naturally, this was met with less than enthusiasm from the woman who ran the dock. As she attacked with some sort of retort, Jack sparred a glance behind him, seemingly on edge. Aware of his lack of attention, the woman tapped him on the shoulder, addressing the shouts that were coming from back at the town.
"Never mind those, love. What you should be minding is what to do with that which you are not needing."
With this, Jack slipped one arm around her, walking down the dock towards the ship, despite the obvious look of protest plastered across her otherwise beautiful face. Slowly he removed his arm, stepping in, forcing her back. This was met with a raised hand, preparing for a slap. Just what he had been waiting for.
As the hand whipped in, Jack raised his own hand, catching her wrist. With the other, he pulled out a recently 'acquired' set of handcuffs. With one smooth movement not at all implied by his usual demeanor, he slipping her wrist into one cuff, linking the other to the dock post.
"You can thank a certain damsel in distress for that one, lass."
With this he made his way over to the ship, all but ignoring the angry shouts coming from behind him, as well as rapidly approaching from Port Royal. After a few minutes, these voices arrived in the form of the British Marines, muskets pointing at a certain pirate who now spotted them from a distance away aboard his newfound vessel. With a grin, he stood up, taking off his tricorne hat in one smooth sweep.
"Gentleman, you will always remember this as the day you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow."
