The contest was in response to the growing environmental movement and the first Earth Day (Earth Day this year was on April 22, 2008).A design was was submitted by a senior at the University of Southern California, Gary Anderson. Gary won.<img src="http://www.polaricecapz.com/recyclable2.gif" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" />The recycling design centers around the Mobius strip (a very cool endless loop discovered in 1858 by August Ferdinand Möbius (1790-1868), a German mathematician and astronomer).
