Hi guys sorry about this late reply but I have few suggestions to make. Please let me know what you think about them and we can discuss about it.
1. As I think all the poems, articles, reviews, pictures everything we gonna add to the magazine first should be posted in the site. That’s because some members copy stuff from other sites. Many can post other peoples work like poems, articles, pics, reviews as their own work. I have some idea to publish this in hardcopy format with help of some sponsors that means like normal magazine, monthly digest or a news paper. Then we can attract lot of professional writers and content suppliers and make this something like registered news paper or magazine in Srilanka and may be around the world.
So our content should be unique and after we publish if people report about their work or if other sites companied about piracy then we will have to face lot of problems. And it’s not good for our ElaKiri name too. So my suggestion is post everything on the forum and let them be there like that for week or two. After that the owner can request to add the content in a special thread where everyone can see. So the team will select them according to the requests. Then there will be good transparency and other people will have a chance to complain or make suggestions about a specific material that we gonna add.
2. Don’t post articles, reviews or poems from other well known international sites without proper referencing to them. You can write your own content based on their work but just say you were based on that source. If you fully copy paste the content then you should reference it saying eg.. (Source – News Week, 2007 July Ed) Same goes to other websites too.
3. Please make sure you are responsible for what you posting, I mean just try your best to find its fake or not. Because on the internet lot of people put false info which mislead others. And providing false info can make bad impression about our name. If you are not sure about what you gonna request to add then please mention it when you posting in the request thread.
4. I think we should think again about the name of the magazine. In my opinion it should reflect the name of the site and it should be some promotional material for the site too. In the other hand magazine should be promoted using our Elakiri.com fame.
I mean when people see the magazine they should get some idea like
“Oh Elakiri.com has a magazine now, wow lets check it”
or in the other hand lets say someone don’t know about elakiri.com but he/she finds our magazine and read it and fall in love with it. Then he/she should get an impression like
“Oh this magazine looks like a publishing of a large online site called Elakiri.com, so there must be more great stuff in that site.. Should check that site now”
So in my opinion we should name this magazine as Elakiri.com Magazine or something very easy to understand this is from Elakiri.com. So magazine get promoted using our Elakiri.com fame and at the same time if someone who don’t know about our site will easily understand this is from a large site called ElaKiri.com without even reading it.
Anyway we can put that in big and we can add any name like ElakiriZine or any other name under that inside the same logo.
5. I like to see some few other new sections in the magazine too, I’ll let you know about them bit later.
Anyway thanks Fazaal for the great idea and all of others who showing great enthusiasm and interest on this project. Let’s try to make this a reality as soon as possible.
