If the civilians were *detained* by our armed forces, why did they risk their lives to flee from the LTTE?? Why? Why?

Our armed forces did well to liberate Sri Lanka from the clutches of The LTTE terrorists. They sacrificed their today for our future! They should deserve all the credit and they are the real heroes unlike the cowardly Terrorists.
Sri lanka would have become a developed country if (1) Britain colonisation in the 1800's was stopped (2) LTTE was stoped as soon as it began. Now, President Mahinda Rajapakshe can be compared to King Dutugemunu who was a great leader. He was the only leader in Sri Lanka to finish the war unlike Ranil.
Sri Lanka is the only country to finish off terrorism!! This is a new beginning for all, with no discrimination of any sorts to anyone, communities in Sri lanka now belong to two major groups, patriots and non patriots. Lets rebuild ou beloved nation Sri Lanka and turn it into the "grainary of the east" once more.
