Of course, if you have committed a serious sin, you will also need the help of the elders. They will listen to you and offer loving counsel from God’s Word. They will pray with you, asking Jehovah to continue applying the value of Jesus’ sacrifice “so that you may be [spiritually] healed.” (<a href="https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/bc/r1/lp-e/1102023202/82/0" target="_blank">Jas. 5:14-16</a>) Also, it will be helpful to meditate on the ransom. You may find it painful to think about how God’s Son suffered so much. But the more you meditate on the sacrifice Jesus made, the deeper your love for him and for his Father will become. Each year we deepen our gratitude for the ransom by attending the Memorial of Jesus’ death and by zealously inviting others to join us.
