IF SRI LANKA WANTS TO IMPROVE THEN ENGLISH SHOULD BE MADE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE. WE SHOULD ALL SUBJECTS IN ENGLISH . IT WILL REMOVE THE HATE OF SINGHALA AND TAMIL. BECAUSE ENGLISH UNITES PEOPLE ACCROSS CULTURES. SEE WHAT INDIA DID. IF GOVERNMENT IS INTERESTED IN GIVING JOBS TO SRI LANKANS . THEN THIS SHOULD BE DONE ALL JOBS ARE IN ENGLISH AND ALL WORLD MARKETS ARE IN ENGLISH ALL INTERNET IS IN ENGLISH. ALL UNIVERSITY DEGREE COURSES ARE IN ENGLISH.

While I'm agreeing with your concern about the importance of English capability, I disagree with the fact that it has to be the official Language of Sri Lanka.

Sinhala will be and have to be the official language in Sri Lanka!

Sri lanka is the only country which uses Sinhala as their official language. So it has to like that.

Yes, learning to write and speak as well as to communicate well in English adds a great deal of potential to your portfolio. So Everybody should learn hard to communicate well in English. See the amount of Local Uni students graduating from sri lankan universities and roaming without a job. Why? Because of their lack of communication skills. So albeit you have a degree from a reputed university, you should be well capable of communication in order to get a better job.

English has became the universal language and we all have to learn and use english language regardless of what country we are living in or what sort of culture we have. But that doesnt mean all of the non-english speaking countries in the world should set the english language as their primary or the official language.
