machn 520 is a low end VGA... and there are 2 thins that u need to consider..


1. your mother board has PCIe 1.0 and the card is PCIe 2.0 ( so you won't get the best out of your card)

2. 520 is entry level card so you wont be able to play games in high resolution. or in some cases even medium res wont work.

so if you are going for a vga card that can paly games in hi res. go for at least gt545.. but little bit expensive... but then again you have to change your mother board to get the best performance.......

ya is is backward compatible. but i had a problem few years back with my XFX9600 GT on intel G33 MB. it was pcie 1.1 and the card was 2.0... but after changing the mb issues wre gone. and had the same problam with my gtx550 ti.

but u r right.... theres not much of a diffrence with entry level cards....
but if his port is pci e 1.1 * 16x, it is equal to pci 2.0 * 8x

so no prob. there....
