Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd. is set to mobicast the first ever fashion show by the renowned designer Dinesh Chandrasena for the Mobitel 3G users on April 4, 2008. This pioneering effort is cutting edge technology offering 3G customers wider options and convenience.
"It will be an unique way to implicitly show our coverage wherever our customers (3G) might be," added Suren Amarasekera, CEO of Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd.
Mobitel 3G offers a wide scope and broad range to the audience via the aspect of 3G Infotainment, which is relatively new to Sri Lanka.
Dinesh Chandrasena, who is internationally acclaimed for his fashion range, stated that it was Mobitel 3G that wooed him to hold his premier fashion show in this part of the region as it enables every mobitel 3G user all over the world to view it, further enhancing his audience base. Dinesh seems to be the apt person to launch such an initiative through his fashion feature as he is of Sri Lankan origin and he has accumulated a celebrity clientale due to his innovative and creative designs. Likewise Mobitel 3G, which is provided by a Sri Lankan company, Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd., is rapidly gaining popularity amidst the sophisticated mobile users worldwide.
"I may not be technologically savvy, but from a creative standpoint, this venture seems very exciting," enthused Chandrasena, who added that the fashion show will be held at the Galle Face Hotel and will feature his new collection which will be showcased in February in Los Angeles, California, USA. The models are foreign and the duration of the show will be 40 – 45 minutes. It will be a virtual live experience for viewers who may experience a slight delay due to ‘on-premise’ editing.

At the press conference we were informed of another venture by Mobitel 3G – the live telecast of breaking news by ITN, which is another national service provider.
Suren J. Amarasekera, CEO Mobitel, said that Mobitel is determined to propagate such novel features. He mentioned that Mobitel, which possesses the trilingual application which is known as ‘Threebhas’ had seen a peak in its SMS (short message service) usage during Christmas and the New Year. The cost of a call between Mobitel users is 50 cents and the video call function, too, is available to 3G users.
It is proven that Mobitel 3G is more amenable, functional, durable, flexible and more accommodating thus proving its ‘wow’ factor.
By providing their customers with an opportunity of viewing the fashion show by Dinesh Chandrasena, Mobitel has peaked in the technological stratosphere.
