Sri Lankan troops on Wednesday went all out against the LTTE after the two-day ceasefire expired. They thwarted a suicide attack by the 'Sea Tigers' and killed 10 rebels off the Mullaitivu coast in the island's northern region.
They said bodies of three LTTE cadres have been recovered and that the captured LTTE boat had been fitted with C4 explosives to carry out the suicide mission. Troops also uncovered 4 surface to air missiles dumped by the LTTE in the Pudukudiyirippu area in Mullaitivu. The Defence Ministry said, the missiles were found during a search and clearing operation.
Meanwhile, The pro-LTTE sources said both sides launched attacks as the two-day holiday ceasefire by the Sri Lankan Government ended midnight and that a number of civilians were killed in shelling.
