Over 1000 persons arrested in Kandy for not using pedestrian crossings

More than 1000 people were arrested in Kandy for not using pedestrian crossings and taken to courts where each of them were fined with a sum of 750 rupees, Timesonline learns.
These arrests have been made by orders given by SSP of Kandy district. The arrests caused huge inconvenience to the pedestrians.
