A firewall and a virus guard are two different things. Firewall ekakin karanne suspicious network connections block karana eka, eka virus walata direct sambhandayak naa. Virus guard on the otherhand can detect virus threats (again no relation to network threats). But aluth virus guard godaka built-in firewall support thiyenawa, especially Virus guard suits wala i.e Nod32 Security Suite, Kaspersky Security Suite, etc..

For complete protection from all kind of threats you need both. But the built in Windows firewall is good enough for most users, if you have a router then that has a hardware firewall.
