The death toll caused by swirling flood waters during the past 24 hours rose to four today, and among the victims was a woman, police and Disaster Management officials said a short while ago.
They said that the deaths were reported from Siyambalahanduwa in the Amparai District, Thanthirimale in the Anuradhapura District, Weragala in Moneragala and Nochiyaduwa also in Anuradhapura.
They said Chalani Jeewathika 21 drowned while crossing the Edo Oya in Siyambalahanduwa and 68-year-old, M. Lal Chandra was washed away after his tipper truck was swept under the Bogoda Bridge in Thanthirimale.
The other two victims are yet to be identified since their bodies have not been recovered as yet, the officials added.
