A petition filed by Sri Lanka's former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka seeking Supreme Court order to release him on bail will be considered tomorrow, May 02.
A tri-member bench comprised of Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranaike, K. Sripawan and Priyasad Dep will hear the petition.
Senior Council Nalin Ladduwahetti will appear for Fonseka.
Fonseka has reportedly ended his two and half year sentence which was delivered by a Court Martial in 2010 after finding him guilty of four charges related to alleged irregularities in military procurements during his tenure as Army Chief.
Fonseka is currently serving a three-year prison term after he was found guilty last November by a civil court for inciting violence in the White Flag case. However, he has appealed against the verdict and the appeal is also to be considered by the Supreme Court tomorrow.
