Washington, D.C. / London, U.K.
The sacked and imprisoned former Sri Lankan army chief, Gen Sarath Foneska, under whose command the army crushed the Tamil Tiger rebels in the decisive 2006-2009 Eelam War IV, will not figure in the updated version of the Sinhalese historical epic Mahawamsa says a report in The Sunday Leader.

In the three new chapters to be added to the ancient Sinhalese-Buddhist epic, there would be no mention of Gen Fonseka. The new chapters would cover the history of Sri Lanka from 1978 to 2011. Express found that the Lankan army website www.army.lk had already removed all mention of Gen Fonseka.

why do you think we need to add a traitor to our epic sinhala history.

Foneska, would have been one of the generals but only one Commander-in-chief which is our President.
