Aguero: I'll score even more under Guardiola Sergio Aguero believes Pep Guardiola has already made him a better player just two months into their time together at Manchester City.Aguero scored a hat-trick in the 4-0 Champions League victory against Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday night to take his tally for the season to nine goals in five games. Guardiola had been monitoring the City squad before he arrived in England and had decided before pre-season that Aguero needed to up his work rate if he were to fit into his plans. The two men have only been working alongside each other since the middle of July, but Aguero believes his manager’s demands are already paying dividends. “I’m really happy with the new manager,” he told reporters. “He is one of the managers that have helped me most in my career, I’ve improved my game near the box and scoring goals, with Guardiola I will score more goals.” Aguero took just eight minutes to open the scoring against Gladbach having returned to the City line-up after missing Saturday’s Manchester derby through suspension. He added a penalty later in the first half before rounding goalkeeper Yann Sommer late on to seal his second hat-trick of the season so far, but he insists he could have played better. “By not playing some games you lose some rhythm but I am happy to be playing again and for the goals. The first half perhaps I wasn’t so happy, I lost a lot of balls but the second half was a bit better. Pep demands the same of everyone and he does the same to me, I have to help to mark, to help on the offensive side and with everything – defend and attack.”City reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season and Aguero says reaching the last four once again is the club’s minimum aim. “Obviously the Champions League is not easy, but our objective is to try to get where we got last season – the semi-final. There is a process first but we have to keep going this way and hopefully we can get much further. We have great players and a great team and we can do it “I still have three more years here. I hope to achieve that [winning the tournament] at some point as it’s really important for any player. Obviously the Champions League is not easy, there are a lot of fantastic teams as well.
