for Negombo HSDPA users attention!

Im a airtel user. i gon online via my 3g phone(N73). bt airtel dont have 3g in negombo. so im having a 2.5G speed.but that speed is less than a dialup. when i called cutomer care they said use a usb dongle. r u a airtel hsdpa user in negombo? if pls add ur comments. is it worth geting a dongle. ThanX in advance.

1. that's not a Dongle it's a MODEM

2. if you haven't 3G in your area. you won't get 3G Coverage even if you got Modem

well u can borrow one from a friend ne...
i think the mobitel dongles are not locked, so try using one of those, or fine a unlocked dialog (Huawei) one.

and one thing that i wanna clarify also. is dialog providing 3G for all kinds of users. if what i heard was right. dialog has put 3 seperate fiberoptic lines, one for their use and other two they lease to other providers.

i thought that was a lie, untill couple of weeks ago, when 3G went down all over the island, and mobitel was effected too.

They say right machan . 100% right

Cos Cellphones have the range of 3G via GSM bandwidth
That means u have to be in GSM bandwith to get FUll 3G coverage

But a dongle Retrive all the awailable Bandwith including WCDMA and UMTS
So whe u using a Dongle or HSDPA Routor you will have full power of the signal
even if the signal has very week

Look Amount of the Signal strenght is not a mesure of the 3G speed
It's 3G speed depends on the Power Of the Signal . so in a cell phone that power is lot less than a dongle

That's why u got 2.5 coverage called UMTS

Ubata airtel 3G coverage eka nettham WCDMA gena hithannawath epa. Don't buy HSDPA dongle. aparade..wena network ekakata change wenna.Thats the better thing
