Kissing on the lips is not bad thing at all and not something alien to SL. Read up on some of the historic documents as well as works of art that describes the pre Victorian kingdom era society of SL and you'll see that compared to that society kissing on the lips is not a huge thing at all.
Its this Vicorian society that was forced on to us by the invading Europeans that dictated that public show of affection is a bad thing and this same culture is now completely removed from the same Europeans. So why must we still keep these traits that was forced on to us ?

readily accessible ones would be "Wild White Boy" and its sequel which describes the Kandy kingdom era.
Salalihini Sandeshaya would be another one that goes even back in time.
There was an article on the Island several years back that explained society in the Sigiriya era that they had found from the excavations there. The paper archives will have that.

I dont know if real French kissing took place but there are evidence that kissing the lips did take place. If lips were kissed, no doubt tongues were used as well.
