The French Naval Ship ‘Dupuy de Lome’ arrived at the Port of Trincomalee this morning for a goodwill visit. The Navy Headquarters said that the visit is the first of its kind by a French naval ship to the Trincomalee Harbour.
To mark the historic occasion, the Commanding Officer, Commander Gregolfe Germain, accompanied by French Ambassador to Sri Lanka Christine Robichon paid a courtesy call on the Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Jayanath Colombage. They held cordial discussions and exchange mementos as a gesture of goodwill.
‘Dupuy de Lome’ is an auxiliary ship belonging to the French Navy. It is 102 meters in length and has a displacement of 4500 tons. The ship carries a complement of 102 naval personnel including 11 officers and 91 Sailors. The visiting French ship will stay in Sri Lanka until July 6.
