ESPN Star Sports (ESS) has lost the French Open broadcast rights for the Indian subcontinent to Neo Sports.

Neo Sports has acquired the rights for the tennis Grand Slam event for five years, beginning 2012. The rights are for India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives.

Neo Sports Broadcast COO Prasana Krishnan said, "Acquiring the telecast rights of French Open is in sync with our vision to provide quality viewing experience of the best international sporting events. This is a significant step in that direction and we will continue to fortify our product offering."

Federation Francaise de Tennis (FFT) media and sponsorship director Michel Grach added, "We are extremely pleased to be associated with Neo Sports, the leading sports network in India, to broadcast the French Open in the Indian subcontinent. The French Open enjoys a large fan base in India and our association with Neo Sports will definitely help us expand this further."

ESPN Star Sports is the rights holder for Wimbledon and Australian Open, while Ten Sports airs the US Open.
