This message right here goes out to all my fans and my haters too

This message right here goes out to all my fans and my haters too. People keep asking why did I make this video, is there more coming and when, how do I join your cause?

Here is the real deal. I have been an artist for some time now and have worked very hard to express the importance of education and unity. In my first album “The Connection” the album was about connecting all cultures together, and I was recognized for quite a few of those tracks back on the island.

Being that I am such a patriot I automatically try to support any Sri Lankan following their dreams, and I did the same with MIA. I went to her concert three years ago at a venue in Hollywood with some of my friends. I saw her perform, of course, I couldn’t really understand too much of what she was saying, but nevertheless I still supported.

At that concert, I met her manager, and the manager knew who I was and wanted me to meet her, as I did want to meet her, we tried to rush to the back of the stage, somewhere between the crowd and the stage we lost each other, but either way I was very happy for her. A little bit after that, I bought her album. I was so enthused I was telling my friends, but, when I saw the album cover I saw the picture of Sri Lanka and outlined in red the place where the terrorists had taken over.

Now before I go into to any more depth about this, I have to let my listeners know that my Sri Lankan experiences were not all friendly either. My family missed a bombing in a store by one day. Meaning one day we were in the store the next day that very same store was bombed, on top of that because my father is also a patriot and spoke out against the LTTE boldly as well, when I was a child just to be spiteful some LTTE affiliated thugs tried to kidnap me from my dad, in Los Angeles!!! Minus that the bus bombing that just occurred this last Christmas, the one with only kids in it, was so close to me that I could hear it!! I have never been in the trenches, but I have definitely been fearful for my life, and now that I have spoken out, obviously, even more.

See what American’s, European’s or anyone for that matter who do not live in the country of Sri Lanka don’t understand is that, the war has been going on for so long that we as Sri Lankan’s, either living or visiting Sri Lanka, have been so desensitized by the war that we ourselves do not take almost getting bombed as a big deal.

There is a war out there, and it is real. There are checkpoints all over the city, there are bomb threats, there are bombs, there are Tigers in the midst of the city and you never know when you could die. Last time I came back from Sri Lanka, which was less that 3 months ago, I had an army escort back to the airport because of the noise I have been making and the stance I have been taking.

Those of you who know the big artists in our country of which I do respect very much, like Bathiya and Santhush, Ashanti, Iraj, Randir, Chinty, Ranidu, Dinesh, Krishan, Ruki, Killer B, and Bone Killer have all spoken out against terrorism, but not so publicly. In our country, if you as an artist make a stance like that - don’t expect to live very long. I have gotten calls from half of those artists already thanking me for speaking out against terrorism.

On the flip side I have, also, been getting calls of death threats. This is a real situation. My friends in Sri Lanka told me that this story just headlined “The Daily Mirror” which is a big paper in Sri Lanka. They also told me that I should probably chill in LA for a while, as they don’t want to see me get capped. If a group can be so cold as to kill their own politicians who speak out against them, imagine how easy it would be for them to kill me.

Anyhow, going back to my story, I saw the picture of Sri Lanka and outlined in red was where the Tigers have taken over. I STILL thought, damn, this girl is really about exposing the terror of the LTTE, but when I opened up the CD and saw her standing there wearing a shirt with a Tiger on it, I was pissed!!! By the way, that picture is no longer there, but since I have one of the older copies if you really want to see it I could scan it and make it available.

So after understanding my position and seeing this, I still didn’t believe so I pulled the album out and started listening to it. I was appalled to say the least, but I kept it moving, I figured people are smart enough to check up on what she is talking about. Well, low and behold, they didn’t and her fan base grew and a couple weeks ago I was in the gym and I heard paper planes on a trailer for a Seth Rogan film. That is when I was like, what the fuck!! How is this possible?? At that moment I decided I needed to set the record straight on what she represents. So I made the diss track, which actually really spawned out of a track called “I’m Coming Back Home” which can be pre-viewed on my podcast.

So there it is for those who really want to know. I never expected her message of so called “freedom fighting” to be bought by so many, but I guess there are a lot of people out there that just don’t do enough research about what is really going on in the world. This video was meant to be educational, and I think it was. I, also, clearly stated that I feel she is a very talented person.

Last thing, a man once told me, “there is nothing better then being the best in your own country.” I believe that. For those who say I am riding MIA’s fame, check up on me. I just came home with the “Best Rap Performance” award from the Derana Music Awards this year. I literally have my country on my back (check that too).

To answer the question about is there more to come. OF COURSE!! On Wednesday I will be releasing another video, which further puts in stone my true position about War and its destruction.

For those who want to be a part of The Revolution sign up for the podcast, be a part of the youtube and be a part of the contribution. I am researching the most unbias and fair non-profit organization in Sri Lanka, so I can take the proceeds from all my albums and put a portion towards it. I am, also, putting together a charity album of which I will put the funds from this album towards refugee child soldiers in Sri Lanka. I invite MIA to be a part of this charity album. I will, also, be inviting all of the above-mentioned artists to be a part of putting a stop to child soldiers. Half of them have already agreed.

    So here it is.

    Who Am I?

    My Name is DeLon

    What do I stand for?

    Peace, Unity and Education

How will you make a difference?

By giving back through a charity album and putting a percentage of my albums profits towards refugee child soldiers in Sri Lanka.

You can call me all the names in the world and say as you wish about me, but my actions will always speak louder that my words.

This is what the Revolution is all about.

    Thank you,

    DeLon
