UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuirya claimed that a search had been launched on the office of Gen (retd) Sarath Fonseka in Colombo 7 to look for army deserters and illegal weapons, but they had failed to find any of them.
“We have inquired from the CID team involved in the search and told that they had come there under emergency regulations, but had failed to find any army deserters and illegal weapons”, he said.
“We expect better democracy in the country”, he said.
