තමන් කෙරෙහි මිලියන 5 කට අධික ජනතාවක් විශ්වාසය තැබූ බවත්, එම ජනතාවගේ විශ්වාසය හා බලාපොරොත්තු ඉටු කිරීම වෙනුවෙන් තමන් ඉදිරි මහ මැතිවරණයට ඉදිරිපත් වන බවත් ජෙනරාල් සරත් ‍ෛාන්සේකා මහතා පැවසීය. ඒ මහතා මේ බව පැවසුවේ අද රාත්‍රී කොළඹ පිහිටි ඒ මහතාගේ නිවසේ පැවැති මාධ්‍ය හමුවකදී අදහස් දක්වමිනි. එහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් දැක්වූ ජෙනරාල්වරයා මෙසේ ද පැවසීය.

"මම හොඳින්ම දන්නවා මට මිලියන 5 කට අධිත ජනතාවක් විශ්වාසය තබා ඡන්දය පාවිච්චි කළා. ඒ බව අපි මීට පෙරදීමයි තහවුරු කර ගත්තේ. නමුත් මේ මැතිවරණයේදී වංචනිකව හා දූෂිතව ඒ ජනමතය වෙනස් කළා. නමුත් මා කෙරෙහි තැබූ ජනතා විශ්වාසය ඒ ආකාරයෙන්ම තිබෙනවා. මම ඒ බව හොඳින්ම දන්නවා. ඒ ජනතා විශ්වාසය ඒ ආකාරයෙන්ම ආරක්ෂා කරමින් ඉදිරියටත් කටයුතු කරන්න මම බලාපොරොත්තු වෙනවා. ඒ ජනතා බලාපොරොතුතව වගේම ජනතා විශ්වාසය ආරක්ෂා කිරීම වෙනුවෙන් ඉදිරි මහ මැතිවරණයේදී මම ඉදිරිපත්වීමට අපේක්ෂා කරනවා."

මෙහිදී මාධ්‍යවේදියෙකු නැගූ පැනයකට පිළිතුරු දෙමින් ජෙනරාල් සරත් ෆොන්සේකා මහතා "දැන් හැමෝම හංසයව දන්නව. හැම කෙනෙක්ම දැන් හංසයව හොයනව. හංසය ගැන විශ්වාසය තියල තියෙනව. ඒ නිසා ඉදිරි මහ මැත්වරණයේදී මම හංසය ලකුණින්ම ඉදිරිපත් වෙන්න බලාපො‍රොත්තු වෙනවා" යනුවෙන් පැවසීය.

1) අවසාන ප්‍රතිඵල මාධ්‍ය ආයතනවලට මැතිවරණ කොමසාරිස් සජීවීව දෙන්න කිවා.....
2) ජනවාරි 27 රජයේ නිවාඩු දිනයක් කලා....

කලින් මැතිවරණ වලදී......

හැම ඡන්ද ප්‍රතිඵලයක්ම මැතිවරණ කොමසාරිස් ප්‍රකාෂ කලේ මැතිවරණ කොමසාරිස් කාර්යාලයෙන්.
මැතිවරණ කොමසාරිස් සහතික කරයින් පස්සෙ එම ප්‍රතිඵල රජයේ තොරතුරු දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවට යවනවා.
එතනින් අනෙකුත් මාධ්‍ය ආයතන සදහා නිකුත් කරනවා.
ස්වාධින රූපවාහිනී, ජාතික රූපවහිනී, සිරස, ස්වර්ණවහිනී......... ඕනෙම මධ්‍ය ආයතනක් එතනින් තමයි මැතිවරණ ප්‍රතිඵල ගන්නේ....

නමුත් මෙවර මැතිවරණයේදි......

මැතිවරණ කොමසාරිස් ජනාධිපති නිල නිවාසයේ සිට ප්‍රතිඵල නිකුත් කලේ කෙලින්ම ජාතික රූපවාහිනියට.
එතනින් තමයි අනිත් මාධ්‍ය ආයතන වලට ප්‍රතිඵල බෙදාහැරියේ.
ව්‍යාජ ප්‍රතිඵල දෙන එක නවත්වන්නට යම් ක්‍රියාමාර්ගයක් ගනියි කියලා තමයි ජෙනරාල් සරත් ෆොන්සේකා නැවතිලා හිටපු හොටෙල් 1යි, ජාතික රූපවහිනියයි ගෝටාභය කලින් වැඩ කරපු ගජභා රෙජිමේන්තුව ලවා වට කලේ.
කාටවත් කිසිම දෙයක් කර ගන්න බැරි විදිහට ඔක්කොම කලා.
ජනවාරි 27ත් නිවාඩු දිනයක් කලේ ව්‍යාජ ප්‍රතිඵල දෙනකොට රජයේ නිලධාරින් කලබල කරයි කියලා.

අන්තිමට මැතිවරණ කොමසාරිස් සජීවිව නෙමෙයි වෙනදා වාගෙ අවසන් ප්‍රතිඵලය දුන්නේ.
ඔක්කොම මැතිවරණ කොමසාරිස්ගේ කතාවෙන්ම තේරෙනවා.....

Beaten Sri Lankan presidential candidate Sarath Fonseka says he could consider seeking asylum in Australia.

The former army chief lost Tuesday's presidential election and is coming under increasing pressure from the Sri Lankan government.

General Fonseka fears for his safety and his officials have already approached several embassies in Colombo about possible asylum.

He says he would also consider seeking asylum in Australia, but Foreign Affairs Minister Stephen Smith says there has been no official request as yet.

"No such approach has been made," he said.

"I think it is very important that General Fonseka be provided with two things - that he be provided with freedom of movement and he be provided with security, personal security in the circumstances that he is in."

The Sri Lankan Government is accusing General Fonseka of planning to assassinate the President Mahinda Rajapakse.

Government spokesman Lakshman Hullugale says General Fonseka and several former army officers were involved in the plot "to assassinate his excellency the President Mahinda Rajapakse and his family members, and also to enter into the defence ministry and assassinate the defence secretary".

General Fonseka has rejected the allegation, which came only a day after he labelled members of the government as murderers and said they were trying to assassinate him.

Career in limbo

Centre for Policy Alternatives executive director Dr Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu says it is unclear whether General Fonseka should stay and fight or flee abroad.

"I suppose General Fonseka has to consider whether he wants to continue in a political career and if he's going to do that, the general election is the next sort of watershed event," he said.

"Is he going to come forward as a candidate and if so, on which party's platform?"

Mr Rajapakse is expected to dissolve parliament and hold the general election before it is due in April.

He is still celebrating his strong win in the presidential poll, and says it is an answer to his critics.

As for opposition activists, they are looking for answers of their own as to why General Fonseka lost.

Liberal Party deputy federal director James McGrath has been in Sri Lanka as a special adviser to the opposition and General Fonseka's campaign.

"He lost for a variety of reasons - he lost because of the abuse of government resources, he lost because of voter fraud and intimidation, and he lost because the Tamils in the north were unable to vote," he said.
