Her son said the men who were not in police uniform had forcibly entered the room when his mother had opened the door. He said the men were armed with knives and some other sharp objects. Two of the men had allegedly pushed the woman to the bed after threatening her and raped her while the third hadallegedly robbed her jewellery worth some Rs. three million.Immediately after the incident, the resort manager had called the Marawila police station to inform them of what happened but the police had said there was no one to take down the complaint and arrived at the scene some three hours later. The police had used sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts to track down the miscreants. The resort’s security officers had been asleep at the time.The woman visited the Marawila and Negombo hospitals for a medical examination which showed signs of internal injuries and rape.The victim’s son and the owner of the resort are offering a cash reward of Rs. one million for any information on the three men.
