Gigabyte representative talked about motherboards, energy effectiveness and competition. According to data, prepared by gigabyte specialists , ASUS company, which is the basic gigabyte competitor , use doubtful ways in the fight for buyers.

After comparing gigabyte and ASUS motherboards , high efficiency of power systems , Gigabyte engineers came to the conclusion: ASUS frankly deceives users.

In the documentation, published BY ASUS it was indicated that motherboards with EPU logotype contain Asus energy processing unit element . Actually, these motherboards include components, specially intended for energy consumption decrease and increase in the energy effectiveness. As ASUS asserts , EPU motherboard can ensure up to 80,23% energy savings in comparison with other motherboards (without EPU).

In comparison with several systems on base of gigabyte and ASUS motherboards higher efficiency was showed by gigabyte products . Gigabyte DES exceeded ASUS systems EPU by 4,1-17%. Actually, Gigabyte note that ASUS EPU reduces some system frequencies and voltage in order to decrease the energy consumption instead of real increase in the effectiveness.

Gigabyte Checking showed that the real value does not exceed 58,6%. According to Gigabyte, ASUS did not introduce any changes in the motherboards , construction and components composition remained the same.

Asus's Response

aipei (Taiwan) – There is a new battle brewing in Taiwan and this time it is Asus that is bringing out the big guns against its rival Gigabyte: Gigabyte claimed in a recent presentation in front of journalists that Asus is lat-out lying about power savings and power efficiency of its EPU motherboards. Asus responded saying that Gigabyte is lying and is now threatening to sue Gigabyte as well as websites “spreading” Gigabyte’s claims.

Gigabyte apparently used an event last week in Taipei to tell journalists from hardware websites what it found out about Asus’ EPU motherboards. According to Gigabyte, Asus claims that its physical Energy Processing Unit, short EPU, can achieve power savings of about 80%, while Gigabyte said that number is closer to 59%. And, Gigabyte launched a widely publicized attack on Asus, alleging that the EPU is a pure marketing term and that Asus did not change the design, firmware or packaging of these motherboards.

Asus fired back with two statements, one of them refuting the claims and one threatening with legal action. According to Asus, its P5Q series of motherboards in fact “utilizes the newest version of the EPU hardware based energy saving chip, which can detect current PC loadings in real time and automatically moderate the power supply for complete system level power savings.”

The second statement reads:

"It has come to our attention that a certain Taiwanese Motherboard Manufacturer has made false claims against ASUS motherboards. These claims have given rise to false information being communicated in both the mainstream media and technology channels. ASUS wishes to clarify the issues and so avoid any further confusion.
After investigation, it is clear that this company in question made use of a sponsored gathering of local and international media to deliberately spread information that we consider both untrue and without credible verification. This “disinformation” is not only extremely damaging to ASUS but also completely misleading to the consumers.
ASUS reserves the right to take legal action against any individual, organization or corporation which creates or spreads such rumors."

Such a reaction has probably been expected by Gigabyte. You can’t accuse your key rival of lying and not expect something flying back in return. However, we are not sure if it is the right decision to threaten websites with a lawsuit as well.

welll i know Foxconn Mars is junk...maybe theyll improve with future boards,:/
Their build quality is good, but they don't really overclock as the high end Asus or Gigabyte models, even though they have a comprehensive overclocking feature set in the BIOS :/

Prove it.:P The Quantum Force strikes very hard now.Their newest black sumthing is great as I heard.Since Shimano has moved from ASUS to Foxconn, their should be something in them better than ASUS.Also many wait for their X48 4Dual slot VGA capable mobo which is for extreame OCing.

well dont abt the x48 boards but one of my freinds got a P35 Foxconn mars and i couldnt make his E2160 run stably more than 3GHz no matter what i do it just crapps out @ 3Ghz and the Vdroop of the board is ctastrophic sumthing like 0.06Volts, and lately when he was upadting his bios and updating process crapped out for no apparent reason and end up with a currupt bios, i never had any experiance with bios updating on ma Asus. as i said they just entered this market im sure they will polish up with time
