Fresh clashes broke out between police and villagers in Urani today afternoon after unidentified persons stabbed a 25 year old girl in the area, reports from the area said.
The girl was at her home when she come under attack by three persons who came by van.
Later the villagers protested at Urani junction along the Trincomalee - Batticaloa leading to a clash with the police. At least one civilian was injured.
The girl has been admitted to the Batticaloa teaching hospital.
