A suspect accused of raping an underage girl inside the Bandaranaike memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) was ordered remanded until June 18 by court today.
The accused, a youth from Ahungalle, is employed as a cashier at the BMICH.
He had allegedly raped the girl on two occasions on June 9 inside a toilet and a storage room at the Conference Hall, Cinnamon Garden Police informed had informed court.
Police requested court to order the suspect be remanded as an extensive investigation is being conducted on the incident.
Colombo Additional District Judge Praharsha Ranasinghe ordered police to remand the suspect until June 18.
