Some 1600 Tamils are to be recruited to the Police Force working in the North East, Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa said. During a meeting with Ambassador Yasushi Akashi, Japan’s Special Representative to Sri Lanka in Tokyo, Mr. Rajapaksa said that ‘initiatives have been taken to recruit 1600 Tamil nationals to the Police Force working in the North and East’. Rajapaksa is currently on an official visit to Tokyo.
