It's actually true. If you get the citizenship of the US, you cannot get rid of it no matter what.
A US citizen (white guy) in my class told me.
Maybe, I don't know about the USA law. If its true, then Gota BAYA people don't have to be BAYA and others will have to select someone else from the official candidates.

he is not telling you the truth. you can actually get rid of it if you want :)

I am quite sure he is telling the truth. He wants to get the Citizenship of the country he lives in at the moment. Maybe it's quite hard to get rid of US citizenship?
I have no interest in US citizenship and have never looked into it. Be my guest to correct if I am wrong. :D

    B. ELEMENTS OF RENUNCIATION

A person wishing to renounce his or her U.S. citizenship must voluntarily and with intent to relinquish U.S. citizenship:

1 appear in person before a U.S. consular or diplomatic officer,
2 in a foreign country at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate; and
3 sign an oath of renunciation

Renunciations abroad that do not meet the conditions described above have no legal effect. Because of the provisions of Section 349(a)(5), U.S. citizens can only renounce their citizenship in person, and therefore cannot do so by mail, electronically, or through agents. In fact, U.S. courts have held certain attempts to renounce U.S. citizenship to be ineffective on a variety of grounds, as discussed below.
