The government today held 7th round of talks with Sri Lanka's main Tamil party TNA in a bid to seek a political solution to the grievances of the ethnic minority community.
"We hope to receive a paper on devolution of power within a week before we meet again for the next round," senior Tamil National Alliance parliamentarian Suresh Premachandran said after the talks.
Premachandran said the next round of the talks will be held on July 9.
The two sides began meeting in January after President Mahinda Rajapaksa appointed a high-powered ministerial committee.
The TNA presses for a solution based on the 13th amendment''s full implementation with unfettered powers for the provincial councils.
However, the government remains reluctant to confer land and police powers to the provinces.
