A hand grenade with its plastic cover was found by the naval troops deployed for security duties in the Bambalapitiya area, in the evening yesterday (25th August) around 1630 hrs.
The watchful sailors, sighting a suspicious object floating in the Kirulapana canal at Bambalapitiya and ascertaining that it would be something dangerous, found it to be a hand grenade, in the subsequent search carried out.
