Electronic Arts, the world's leading interactive entertainment company, and Valve, the award-winning studio behind the blockbuster franchises Half-Life and Counter-Strike, today announced the naming and product configurations The Black Box and The Orange Box, two of the most anticipated action game offerings shipping worldwide this Winter 2007.

The Black Box will ship for the PC, and includes Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2. The Orange Box will ship for the PC, PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system, and Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system, and includes all the content of The Black Box, plus the original Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode One.

Innovative games included in The Black Box and The Orange Box include:

* Half-Life 2: Episode Two -- the second installment in Valve's episodic trilogy advances the award-winning story, leading the player to new locations outside of City 17.
* Portal -- a pioneering type of single player action game that rewrites the rules for how players approach and manipulate their environment - much like how Half-Life 2's Gravity Gun reinvented the way gamers interact with objects in the game.
* Team Fortress 2 -- an all-new version of the legendary title that spawned team based multiplayer action games. The game's daring new art style features the most advanced graphics of any Source-based game released to date.

I have played HL2. The game was great overall. But not sure if it's the best FPS.

It depends the way you look at it.... for me, The reason why I rate HL very high is that it has almost looked every aspect of a first person shooter!

1. When the time Half - Life was out there was no other FPS with a strong storyline.

2. Half - Life invented the revolutionary graphical engine that is legendary even used today in Counter-Strike

3. Many enemy types to fight with, humans, aliens, mythical creatures, zombies, robots... u name it!!!

4. Can control vehicals

5. Variety of weapons (and innovative ones)

6. Many landscapes to fight (fileds, buildings)

there are many!! this are ones that comes to my mine!!!

Hehe. Ok. You know, my priority always goes to realism (graphics wise). Story should be there too. That's the only problem I had with FEAR. :( I really didn't get the storyline.

Yes! that's correct... should also have good graphics, But comparing with some of the gaming companies out there Valve is much better, cuz whenever you play like EA games for an instance, it demands very high requirements for an example Medal of Honor!

I thought HL2 had better graphics without demanding much graphics power!

I started playing FEAR but had to stop for now, cuz I'm bit busy!! Got no idea about the storyline.. as I heard the story is about a general which has psychic powers and commanding a cloned army of undead.... right???

Oh! yeah! talking about what else contributed Half-life to became very successful:

- People loved the idea of a geek becomes a hero, something different (Dr. Freeman with his thick specs ha..ha..), cuz it was always a guy with muscle we use to see, not with brains!!!

- Half - Life wasn't about just shooting, you were required to think as well, I remember when I played the very first HL, I got stuck in one place for more than 3 weeks... juz because, I never thought I had to do such a thing to find a way out of there!! ( as i remember their motto also... was something like THINK - SHOOT - LIVE)

- Half - Life doesn't take you out of the game, (you can just sit there and finish it within 12 hours if you want) LOADING is continuous... and doesn't take much time to load either!
