No rule changes have been made yet by the Rudd government.  But as I know there is a huge skill shortage in IT, Accounts, Construction sectors. So there is a good chance of getting skilled migration vesa these days. Even easier to get the SIR visa status. SIR is sort of a PR. But not exactly. After working for 2 yrs in SIR status you can get the PR.  All besed on a points test and the immi.gov website which Ruchira gave gives all the details.</blockquote>
