A hat-trick of tries from wing three quarter Naveen Abeyratne helped St. Joseph's College beat Ananda College by 15 points to three points in their Singer inter school under 20 Group 'A' division two league rugby tournament match worked off at Longden Place yesterday.
Abeyratne touched down twice in the first half as the Josephians took a 19-3 lead at half time. He added another try to his tally in the second half to complete a successful outing.
Full back Ithila Imesh converted the solitary penalty for Ananda College. Priyantha Generatne refereed.
Meanwhile Carey College outplayed Piliyandala Central by 30 points to 10 points in another Singer inter school under 20 league rugby tournament match played at the same venue. (C.D)
