I have recently bought a WD5000AACS hard disc drive. Now I cannot copy files to the drive and I cannot copy from it also since it gives CRC error. But I can copy some files though. But it takes awful lot of time(around 3-4 mins) to copy single 350M file. Anyone have idea what's wrong with it?

More frequently, a CRC error message such as the one above is produced when a piece of malicious code has been introduced onto a system.
In all cases of CRC problems, an up to date Anti-Virus program should be run on the system. This should provide the user with the information as to the real cause of the problem ie. a genuine CRC problem, or unwanted malicious code.

Ok, if it's related to malicious program my primary Hitachi Disc also must show the error isn't it? Also my data cable is brand new SATA cable, also I tried switching cables b/w 2 drives and still same result.

    Try these.
    1. Change the SATA port
    2. Change the SATA cable
    3. Try the HDD on another PC
    4. If there is no data you need to save on the disk, remove the partitions and repartition.

Did u install the correct drivers for your Motherboard ???
Im no pro in these matters...but if i dont install some SATA drivers for my Mobo...my SATA driver is not recognized by Windows XP :S
Also once replacing the drivers which were given to me by the mobo CD...i installed some USB 2.0 drivers to my PC (downloaded using some software)....and blv me the USB speed sooooooooooo bad!!!
It took me like 3 or 4 hours to get a 700 MB file from an external HDD in to my PC.
So all i can say is...did u install the drivers from your Mobo CD....and are they the correct ones???? Give a try updating to the latest SATA drivers from the vendors website...might help
Maybe this might sound "LOL" for you'll :P ...but all i can help is this way :D :D :D

did u try giving it a low level format ?
by the way, can u boot up using that HDD

it's used for backup purpose, so I have around 200G of data on it I have no place to transfer, so I kept low level format as the last line of defense. And I did not used it as bootup drive and It does not have OS installed.

I tried disc on external drive connector and connected via USB and still same problem occurd. Anyway did not removed or formatted the disc yet. Seems now it has come to that point. Any tools to check if it's a hardware faliure (in this case I have to through the drive away even it has 5 year warrenty it was purchased from thailand) or just file system corruption.

My other hitachi 250G HDD works fine and It's SATA too so it may not be a Mobo driver issue isn't it? Drive is perfectly detects and all files are listed under windows problem occurs when you try to write or read something from the disc. And also I have updated MoBo drivers from their update utility. And also it works same way when I fit that drive using my external drive connector using USB interface. So drivers shouldn't be the culprit.
