I'm sick of watching crappy standard definition TV whole my life
guys do you know of a way to watch HDTV in sri lanka? recently got to know dialog has started testing HD broadcasts.. is there a way to get it?

u never get hdtv broadcast in srilanka in ur life time..
but sdtv (digital)will start..cant say the date..first from cocavil to jaffna peninsula.,,but rupavahini in a doubt..
after peliyagoda lotus tower finish u might have chance to watch those..
y dont u go to receive mp4 satellite packege.?they in hd format..

machan get DishTV or TATASKY they both have HD channels

here is the answer for ur question..they are paytv packeges..some free HD tests on some satellites..but they wont long last as they may convert to pay tv soon..and also u need HD support sat receiver to watch them..

macho this field is big and need some knoledge to understand..but in simply say dialogtv is early CBNsat they took it while on court matter..their receiver is COSHIP which made in korea..it had a disadvantage thea mean can hack and watch freely that dialog packege.
so they collect all receivers giving another UAE mage technostar receiver saying they go to convert toHD (MP4)

true ,,that new receiver has that facility.but they not change their transmission to MP4.it still in DVB-S1 format..several attampts did in past but no HD still.
answring to question abot quality of dialog tv..is they cheating customers..in 3 transdpnders they broadcast 72 + channels..so u can understand one channel has very low data rate..so u see lot "kadatholu"in pictures while they moving..actually this is very bad thinking from customer side..
i think u have some idea now..

fogot to say dialog start DVB-T transmission in colombo,free to air .which include several local channels an news like al-jazeera..special decoder needed or a DVB-T dongle to watch on pc..
but information say now it banded..

get dish tv. it has 30 (or 30+) HD channels including discovery, etc. its price is reasonable
