Health Ministry suspends Rubella vaccination again
The Health Ministry has decided to once again suspend administering the Rubella Vaccination, Deputy Director-General (DDG) of Public Health Services of the Health Ministry Dr. Palitha Mahipala told reporters a short while ago. The decision comes following the death of a girl last night who fell ill after she was administered the vaccine.
In March this year the Health Ministry resumed the school Rubella Immunization Programme after a re-assessment of the programme on the recommendations of the WHO, departmental and epidemiological inquiries.
The school Rubella Vaccination programme was suspended before that on the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa following the death of a student and hospitalization of another 27 from Matara St. Thomas’ Girls High School after they were administered Rubella vaccine. (KE)

Something is radically wrong with the Health Ministry. Now what has the Minister got to say? Are we to lose precious life for the inefficiency on the part of the Health Ministry? Since Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva is a senior stalwart of the SLFP it is better that he is made the Prime Minister and relieved of the Health Ministry functions and thus spare the innocent lives.

If our Srilanka wants to develop further, it is advisable to inject 2 Rubella Vaccinaton to our health minister Nimal Sripala De Silva. He doesn't his assigned duties. But, his interest is to comment on other ministries.

Same Action by the Health Minister at the earlier occation too. He should be sack from WHO post he is just holding for nothing. We know SL ministers are not doing any work other than speeches at election meetings!

Hey "WHO" do you still beleive the person you choose is eligibnle for the post? what is the "something" you have received? Because in our cournty Money has intruded very deep in all corners of the health sector.

Health Minister should resign on this. How many more lives are you going to take ???? This has to be taken as MURDER and someone is doing it to make money by giving expired stuff or unusable stuff.

After the first death of rubella vaccination in Matara St Thomas Girls school, Health Ministry didn't withdraw the Rubella Vaccine vials which bear Batch No ZA37 EXP. Nov 2009. These vaccines manufactured by Serum institute of India. This inferior quality vaccine vials don’t bear the Heat Sensitive Thermal Labels, to identify the spoiled vaccine vials, during a power failure. Ministry didn't analyze the vaccine vials through a laboratory test & there were so many reports about toxicity!. Still these vaccines are available in Matara area & even today this deadly vaccine was injected to school children. Deputy Director of Public Health, who is responsible for vaccination program, is directly responsible for this child's death.
