if you can complete cima upto strategic level (finished), you can start your carrier from a delight point...

otherwise there wont be gud place for you, since there are lot of cima fellows...

try to do something in APITT, i heard they have many talents than other institute's students...

    Gud luck

If you wish to be an accountant someday you should do chartered. Cos although cima has the word accountants in it, companies do not recognize cima as a good qualification to be an accountant. Usually cima is more oriented towards management side and less to accountancy side. I am saying this cos one of my friends having completed cima was turned down for accountant positions stating that companies prefer chartered accountants over cima ones. Also in any field (I mean engineering, IT,etc..) the chartered status is far more superior than just a membership such as cima.In the professional world, having a charter is considered as having a M.Sc level competency. So if you compare the two cima is never near in status as chartered and only our sri lankan dumb folk has this belief that any crap from UK is far more better than other qualifications.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

It's true that CIMA is more towards the management aspects than accounting, but overall it provides a good platform to start your career as a manager or an accountant and also it is well recognized in many countries.
But you have to complete at least upto the strategic level and it will cost you a bit.So if you are willing to do CIMA go ahead and do it, but be determined to finish it off,not abandoning it halfway because it will be a complete waste of time and money.
If u want further details visit www.cimaglobal.com (Especially check the fee structure and the subject pillars)

yes i am willing to complete what ever i start frm here on.. i got caught in middle of charted and cima. I'm little hesitant to continue charted coz now they have reduced the training period by 1year for the new students while old ones still got 4 to do.

does cima practical experience sucks like charted (you know like audit firms) ??

btw thx for the link i already went through fee structure gona check out subjects ;)

Practical experience is not a big issue in CIMA as it is concentrating more on the associate membership of CIMA.(You should pass TOPCIMA and have 3 years working experience to get the associate membership)But in an educational and professional perspective working experience shouldn't be a problem because you anyway get the qualification when you pass TOPCIMA.
Don't be much bothered about workink experience now as it will be solved smoothly as the programme progresses, your concentration should be on getting the qualification!!!!!!!

Excuse me sir...Do you know having membership in CIMA,they recognize as an M.Sc when you apply for PR in UK???? There are people like you who do local charted and stuck in an audit company 4 4 years with a salary of 2500 to get your articles signed desperately. And you are so bloody jealous over CIMA pepople who finished CIMA in 2 1/2 years and starting their carrer with minimum salary of 40K per month.

Accounts are gone my friend. Accounts have been replaced by accounting softwares. In this modern world we need more than just accountants who byheart the double entreis. Dont talk rubbish.

Well Im a CIMA guy. Employed at a leading company in SL.
