    ( About EK Zine Article ) Help for installing PC Linux OS on a PEN DRIVE

    Hey guys i decided to post this tread to help on the problems over the installation on the PC linux OS to PEN DRIVES. this is regarding the article Operating system in a pen drive (ARTICLE 2 | PAGE 12 )

    Here are some installation Information

    1. A pen drive a with 1GB capacity or higher.
    2. The PC Linux live file downloaded and the “fixpclos.exe” with you.
    3. Create a folder on your PC named PC Linux
    4. Download PC Linux 2007 ISO and move it to the PC Linux folder
    5. Download fixpclos.exe and extract the contents to your PC Linux folder
    6. Navigate to the PC Linux folder and run fixpclos.bat
    7. Move the contents from the PCLOS folder to your USB device
    8. From the USB device, run makeboot.bat to make the drive bootable
    9. Warning - Never run the makeboot.bat in your hard drive, it will make your PC unbootable.
    10. With the USB device inserted, restart the PC and set your system BIOS or Boot Menu to boot from the USB device
    11. That’s all enjoy your new operating system, to boot normally remove the Pen drive and re boot again.

    Download the “fixpclos.exe” this helps us to convert the PC Linux live CD to a version that is compatible with the pen drive, and to make the boot of the pen drive: - Click Me

    ammo... eka serayak linux dala mata kela una.. danne nethi nisada danne ne.. mata format karala xp ayeth dannama una kohoma hari..
    open source nisada danne nane..... hehe..however thanks..

    machchang This thing u have to install on a pen drive. actually there is no installation, just copy paste the files and then run the boot fixer (on the Pen drive) thats is, please read the article macho.... :) :) :) :) :)

    Ok if u need to install extra programs then u will have to format the pen drive in a linux partition and them install the os.

    as i have mentioned in the article when u copy paste the files what it does is it will run as a live cd. but with almost all the programs u will need.

    so if u need extra programs simply format the pen drive in a linux partition and them intall the os in it (there is a install icon on the desktop; the installation is easy as installing a software to ur pc; takes about 5mins ;) )

    but before u install it permanently i think its best to try it as live cd on a fat32 partitioned pen drive.

    Seems like that fixpclos.exe link not allowing to hot link and transfer the download request to their homepage. I updated it again, but not sure.
    So I think its better to put it on a file host and give the link. But you will have to keep update with the new version of the file.
