Launched just a couple of months back, the Honda WR-V sold a total of 4,894 units in July 2017, while the City, which till date used to be the bestselling car for Honda, clocked 4,854 units. The third largest product was the Honda Jazz premium hatchback, selling 2.971 units and closely followed by the Honda Amaze compact sedan with 2,913 units sold in July 2017. Cumulatively, Honda sold a total of 17,085 units for the said month as against 14,033 units for July 2016. With such an enthusiastic response, Honda outgrew it’s sales of July 2017 by 22 percent in comparison to the same month last year. The automaker’s other products, the likes of which include the Honda BR-V, Brio and CR-V sold 1,042, 396 and 15 units respectively. However, unlike other hatchback based crossovers, the WR-V comes with it’s own unique identity. It gets a rugged and macho look up-front, with large wraparound headlamps, a chunky bumper and a chrome studded front grille. The side profile though resembles quite a lot to that of the Honda Jazz but then its the rear again where we see a stark difference between the two. The tail-lamps are L-shaped with an augmented tailgate summing up the looks. To compete the compact SUV look, the WR-V comes with black plastic cladding all-around. The layout is black coloured and comes with a number of silver highlights. The only major difference between the sub-compact SUV and it’s hatchback sibling is the new 17.7cm touchscreen infotainment system, called the Digipad. Other features continue to be the same, the Honda WR-V comes with engine push star-stop button, automatic climate control, parking camera, electrically adjustable ORVMs with turn indicators, multi-functional steering wheel among the others. The petrol derivative is a 1.2-litre unit producing 90Bhp of power along with 110Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine is a 1.5-litre i-DTEC motor churning out 100Bhp of power along with 200Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission while the diesel derivative gets a 6-speed manual unit.
